Introduction

Creating effective message templates is crucial for ensuring clear communication with your audience. Before launching them, it’s essential to test thoroughly to avoid errors, ensure proper functionality, and provide a seamless user experience. Follow these steps to confidently test your templates before going live:

  1. Review for Clarity and Accuracy

    • Ensure the message is clear, concise, and free of spelling or grammatical errors.

    • Confirm all placeholder variables (e.g., {{name}}, {{points}}) are accurate and well-positioned.

  2. Test Across Multiple Scenarios

    • Simulate various user actions (e.g., joining, earning points, claiming rewards) to ensure messages trigger as expected.

    • Confirm that messages are sent at the right time based on user actions or events.

  3. Send Test Messages

    • Verify that messages display correctly across different devices and email clients.

  4. Check Personalization

    • Test dynamic content, such as names, reward details, or account balances, to confirm it populates correctly.

    • Ensure fallback content works for missing or invalid data.

  5. Validate Links and CTAs

    • Click all links and buttons to ensure they direct users to the correct destinations.

By rigorously testing your message templates with these steps, you can confidently ensure they are professional, functional, and optimized to engage your audience effectively.

How to carry out testing?

Once you've finished composing your SMS or designing your EDM and are ready to send it out without using placeholders, you can simply use the "Save & Test" button to send out a normal SMS or EDM.

If your SMS or EDM contains placeholders, the "Save & Test" method will not work because the placeholders need to pull data from specific members to fill up the placeholders in your design. This includes the member's email to send the content out.

In this case, you can send the SMS or EDM to yourself (or a test account) and view it from your inbox to ensure the data is displaying accurately. This allows you to verify that the placeholders are correctly populated with the member's data before sending the message to your entire recipient list.

It's important to note that all SMS test sending will still incur charges. Therefore, ensure that you are mindful of this when testing SMS messages, even if they are being sent to yourself for verification purposes.
